Executive Producer Simon Kinberg confirms that the anticipated mutant film "Gambit" is finally happening and will begin production on 2017. Josh Boone is also coming back to direct the X-men spinoff, "New: Mutants."

Check out a recent Tweet from Geek Guardians:

"Gambit" was set to be released on October 2016, with Channing Tatum taking on the role, but the film was pushed back due to Director Dough Liman's hectic schedule. While this is true, another reason is also behind the delay - Kinberg and his team believed that the script was raw and it needed to be improved so they decided to pull "Gambit" out of production.

In an interview with The Hashtag Show, Kinberg said "Gambit" was similar to "Deadpool" from where it started. It was an entirely new franchise within the X-men verse and he wanted to make sure that the script would give justice to turning the comic book character into a movie. He also revealed that the sequel to "Deadpool" is already slated to begin production early next year. It will also be the same time where he will begin to write the next "X-men" film.

There is no official release date for the movie but it will definitely be released after the sequel to "Deadpool" and "Wolverine 3," so fans will have to wait a bit longer.

Meanwhile, Kinberg confirms that the director of "The Fault in Our Stars" Josh Boone is back on board for the X-men spin-off, "New Mutants." According to Comic Book Movie, the producer could not give the roster for the characters but ensured fans that Boone's script was very loyal to the original comic book. There is also no official date for the production yet but they are hopeful that it will be happening soon.
