Is Johnny Depp finally saying goodbye to his iconic Captain Jack Sparrow role after "Pirates of the Caribbean 5"? Rumor has it that the fifth installment of the swashbuckling fantasy movie is Depp's last outing as the witty pirate.

It was previously reported that the fifth film, "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales," will be shot simultaneously with the sixth movie. However, plans did not push through and it is rumored that Disney is no longer interested in producing another "Pirates of the Caribbean" film.

With that said, there's a looming possibility that "Pirates of the Caribbean 5" could be Depp's final performance as the iconic rum-loving pirate captain. This could also mean that as older characters retire, the franchise might want to focus on the younger generation of heroes and villain. Orlando Bloom, who will return in the fifth film as Will Turner, previously revealed that the new "Pirates of the Caribbean" film is more of a reboot than a sequel, and that it has something to do with his relationship with his son.

Brenton Thwaites has been cast to play Henry Turner, Will's son with Elizabeth Swann, played by Keira Knightey. Henry grew up knowing very little about his father, who is now Davy Jones and captain of the Flying Dutchman. According to Movie Pilot, Although there's a curse that prevents Henry from reconnecting with Will, he believes there's a way to go around it as he attempts to save his father.

Thwaites is not the only new cast member to join the crew. Kaya Scodelario is also onboard as Carina Smyth, who is described as an astronomer and academic. She's a woman on a mission who's fighting for her right to study in a university. She's also on a journey to find the Trident of Poseidon, which leads her to Jack Sparrow. Carina is also rumored to be Captain Barbossa's daughter. Carina and Henry are portrayed as young lovers in the movie.

One of the core elements of the film, the Trident of Poseidon, is said to be a "powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas." In "Pirates of the Caribbean 5," Jack Sparrow searches for the Trident to save himself from the wrath of his old enemy, Captain Salazar.

"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" is scheduled for a May 26, 2017 release date.
