When "Criminal Minds" returns for Season 12, Reid will still have a difficult time recovering from Morgan's departure.

Executive producer Erica Messer revealed in a report from TV Guide that the crime procedural will revisit this storyline in Season 12.

"You don't just get over losing your best friend at work," Messer told the publication.

"That is something that changes your day. You adapt and you move on, and life goes on."

"Criminal Minds" will address the hard process in some episodes of Season 12 by allowing the remaining members of the BAU to deal with the situation in their own terms. In March, followers of "Criminal Minds" have been shocked by the abrupt exit of Shemar Moore - the actor who plays fan-favorite Agent Derek Morgan. Moore has been with the show since its debuted in 2005 on CBS and his departure marked as one of the show's saddest episode.

According to Moore, he has decided to leave "Criminal Minds" Season 12 because he wants to have a more balanced life. He explained that his work schedule has affected him from doing his other future plans in life including marriage and having kids.

As to whether fans could still see him again in future seasons of "Criminal Minds," Moore is very much welcoming of the idea.

Moving forward, "Criminal Minds" Season 12 has found a new actor to replace Agent Morgan's post in the BAU. It was announced last month that Magic Mike actor Adam Rodriguez has joined the cast in a series regular role, US Weekly reported.

Rodriguez' character will be introduced as an agent with the Fugitive Task Force who joins the BAU team.

"Criminal Minds" season 12 premieres on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 9PM on CBS.
