There has been rumors that the fourth installment of "Iron Man" could hit theaters in 2020; however, it is uncertain whether Robert Downey will reprise his role as Tony Stark, a.k.a Iron Man.

Downey, back in 2014, told his fans at the "Ellen DeGeneres" show that the fourth installment was happening. According to Christian Times, Downey revealed recently that he is not closing his doors for the role. He said that he is willing to do one more movie for the franchise before he calls it quits. Other reports suggest that the uncertainty of the film happening was also due to Marvel having difficulty deciding if they were going to offer it to the actor, since his salary was already too expensive.

In terms of "Iron Man 4's" plotline, it is said that Marvel was making it into a prequel, focusing more on the events that happened to Stark prior to "Captain America: Civil War," which could reveal the reason for his dwindling relationship with Pepper (played by Gwyneth Paltrow).

Other rumors suggests that Agent Romanoff, a.k.a the Black Widow, will be putting on the Iron Man suit in Starks absence; however, since there is no sure confirmation from Marvel just yet, fans will just have to take the news with a grain of salt for the meantime.

What is certain is that Downey will still be appearing in TV screens every year until 2019. He will be appearing in "Spider-Man: Homecoming" in 2017 and he is also confirmed to wear the suit and go up against Thanos in "Avengers: Infinity War" part 1 in 2018 and part 2 in 2019.
