At the age of 15, Minzy already made her debut with the now-defunct 2NE1. Before this, the singer spent years training under YG Entertainment and preparing for her big debut. In a recent appearance, Minzy revealed that missing out on her childhood is one of the downsides to starting out young in the entertainment industry.

In the latest episode of KBS' reality program "Sisters' Slam Dunk," Minzy shared that she was not able to make a lot of friends outside of YG Entertainment because of her busy training schedule. According to Koreaboo, it was revealed that Minzy started training at the age of 13 and was constantly excused from school in order to attend her training.

Minzy explained that she wasn't able to interact that much with her peers at school because she was required to leave around lunch so that she can begin her practice at YG Entertainment. Her training schedule also prevented her from joining field trips organized by her school.

At that time, Minzy is considered one of the youngest K-Pop talents to make a successful debut with her band. Former label-mate Seungri of BIGBANG also debuted at 15! Suhyun of Akdong Musician, however, started much younger at 13 years of age.

Meanwhile, Minzy recently placed second on Billboard's world album chart, making her the first member of 2NE1 to successfully transition into a solo artist. According to The Jakarta Post, the album "Minzy Work 01 Uno" made a huge impact on local and international charts when it was released on April 17.

Aside from Billboard, Minzy also dominated the iTunes K-Pop album charts in various countries, including the US, Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia.

"Minzy Work 01 Uno" contains six songs, including "Ninano," Beautiful Lie" and "Flashlight," the latter featuring hip-hop singer Jay Park.

Minzy is currently signed with Music Works.
