Mulder and Scully are set to return for another season of "The X-Files." For its 11th season, the iconic sci-fi characters return to the small screen to answer a ton of questions on last season's finale.

Season 11 Confirmed

Science fiction in the small screen continues with an amazing run as Fox recently confirmed another season of the extremely popular TV series "The X-Files." Naturally, Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson) are set to return to the series. Unlike the hiatus from season nine to 10 (15 years!), it looks like series will continue this year.

The good news doesn't even end there: according to TV Line, the sci-fi series will have more episodes compared to its latest offering. Specifically, season nine only had six episodes while the upcoming season is expected to run for 10 episodes. The stars of the series had scheduling problems last season which limited production of more episodes.

Season 11 Spoilers/Predictions (Spoiler Alert!)

One of the reasons why fans are clamoring for another season is the big cliffhanger in season 10. According to Vulture, the season finale have provided a good deal of answers to the big questions within the season since the DNA sequence in Scully were finally discovered to contain something that could protect her when a "New World Order" is in place. Unfortunately, Mulder didn't have the genome sequence.

The season finale even opened up to a lot more questions since Mulder wasn't the one beamed at from space. Although it was not openly said, it is indicated that some sort of purge could happen that could wipe out those without the genome sequence. But the final scene indicates that Scully got beamed before the credits rolled-in.

Season 11 could possibility continue the saga of Mulder and Scully. But since it's called a "series event," it may feature a different storyline with a few answers on what happened last season.
