'Descendants of the Sun' Heartthrob Sweetheart Song Joong-ki to Visit Taiwanese Fans

Brace yourselves Taiwan! Descendants of the Sun heartthrob Song Joong-ki will be meeting his fans in Taiwan next month in the final leg of his 2016 Asia Tour Fan Meeting, the Focus Taiwan reported.

After promoters broke the news, Song's die-hard fans immediately secured tickets. All 4,200 available tickets to the event were snatched within five minutes after being put on sale last Friday, according to Taiwan's Sun Entertainment Culture Limited.

Song has thanked his fans for their undying support. "It's been a while, and I look forward to seeing you soon," Song said.

This is going to be the actor's first visit to the country since 2012.

Besides meeting with his fans, no other planned activities have been planned because of Song's hectic schedule.

The 30-year-old actor, who rose to stardom after playing the role of a special forces soldier in the Korean megahit TV series Descendants of the Sun, is currently on a seven-week tour. The actor has already paid a visit to his fans in China and Hong Kong.

Other than the actor, even his co-stars are well-loved by many. Kim Ji-won attracted about a thousand Chinese fans during her autograph-signing event in Beijing last weel Saturday.  The event was organized by a fashion brand Kim is endorsing.

The Descendants of the Sun TV series had a sensational run between February and April. It was aired simultaneously in South Korea and China and has gained immense popularity in other Asian countries.

Descendants of the Sun will premier in Taiwan beginning next month on the drama channel East Broadcasting Co.
