"Attack on Titan" season two is set to premiere this April in select territories. While it mainly pushes to continue the story of the manga series, chief director Tetsurou Araki offers some insights on the importance of the follow-up season for the popular anime series.

Bridging Familiarity with the Manga

One of the most popular manga and anime series in modern times is "Attack on Titan." Although it gained notoriety with this gruesome depiction of death and destruction, it has become a tale of powerful titans that could offer so much more than just attacking the wall and devouring every human they could catch.

Crunchy Roll recently posted an interview with director Tetsurou Araki and he announced his confidence on the success of the series. Of course, it's already a popular manga series but Araki assures quality of the upcoming manga series since everyone (including him) is familiar with the story and have taken the latest updates on the manga in their upcoming storyline.

Those who follow the manga series should note that the first season ended in chapter 33-34. It's safe to assume that the upcoming season will also feature the same type of characters with the same number of chapters.

Shift of Focus

One of the most interesting facts about the upcoming season is the shift in focus on the characters according to the anime's chief director. According to Geek, the upcoming season in the manga series will shift its focus on the past before everyone from Eldia could become a titan.

The second season will also focus retelling the past especially on how the wall was built and how it all began. This season will also feature Eren's past which could ultimately determine the future of everyone inside the wall. Joining in the party is story of Ymir Fritz - the first person who bargained for the powers of a titan.

The explosive "Attack on Titan" season 2 will open in select countries this April 2017. Watch the trailer of the series here.
