The upcoming magic, thriller film Now You See Me 2 is set to be released in China next month, according to The Variety.

The Jon M. Chu-directed film will hit screens in China on June 22, ahead of its theatrical release on June 24. It is also set to make a debut in North America on June 10. Chu is also the director of the blockbuster hits G.I. Joe: Retaliation and Step Up:3D.

In the film, the Four Horsemen (a group of street magicians formed by a mysterious figure who later was identified as Dylan Rhodes (Mark Ruffalo)), will reappear and are forced to recruit a tech genius to successfully pull off their most impossible heist yet, according to IMDB.

Other than Ruffalo, the sequel of the 2013 American heist adventure will feature Morgan Freeman, Jess Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, and Daniel Radcliffe. It will also feature Taiwanese singing-acting star Jay Chou ("The Green Hornet") in a significant role. With Chou's huge Chinese fan base, the producers are anticipating to receive a big opening in the country.

Instead of going through China's narrower, which sets a 34 films per year revenue share quota, Now You See Me 2 has been treated as a flat fee import, the Variety reported.

Surprisingly, the release date also comes just before the start of China's anticipated annual blackout period, where big international films are not released.

Other movies hitting Chinese theatres next week are The Divergent Series: Allegiant on May 20, The Angry Birds Movie on May 20, and Alice Through The Looking Glass on May 27.
