KPop bands receive recognition at 'Japan Gold Disc Awards'

South Korean boy groups have once again gained recognition in the international stage as many of the won numerous awards in the recently held “Japan Gold Disc Awards”.

According to a report by All KPop, Big Bang brought home 5 awards including the “Album of the year (MADE)”, “Best 3 Albums (MADE)”, “Song of the Year” for their “Bang Bang Bang” Japanese version and “Best Music Video” for their “BIGBANG WORLD TOUR 2015〜2016 [MADE] IN JAPAN” while iKON got the “New Artist of the Year” and “Best 3 New Artists (Asia)” recognitions. On the other hand, another “Best 3 Albums” award were also given to BTS’ “Youth” and 2PM’s “Galaxy of 2PM”.

And to express their happiness for the success of the groups, the boys’ supporters extended their commendation online. According to one fan: “Congratulations to everyone who won! & special congratulations to the KINGS BIGBANG! 11 years and still the representative of Kpop group worldwide! Something unheard of, truly legendary.Already almost 2 years since the start of the MADE era... the impact is still felt till this day. The MOST successful albums in the history of Kpop. Amazing!”.

Another added: “And it's even surprising that iKON is the only Korean rookie group who won these awards. Fighting iKON, BB, and BTS.”

“Japan Gold Disc Awards” is one of the major award-giving bodies in Japan. It is administered by the Recording Industry Association of Japan.

Meanwhile, 2PM’s Jun.K was recently brought to the hospital after falling from a moving platform during the group’s concert in Seoul, Soompi reports. According to his talent management agency JYP Entertainment, the star had suffered a fracture in his right elbow as well as a finger on his right hand. Furthermore, the agency assured that he had already undergone surgery without any complications.
