"Game of Thrones" Season 7 will return to HBO in the summer of this year but the network has not announced the specific date yet. The show ended its 6th season on a high note and with a huge cliffhanger after King Tommen I Baratheon committed suicide by jumping off the window.

But that is not the only shocking thing that happened in the show because it was also the finale of season 6 that his wife Margaery Tyrell got killed in an explosion. Now, "Game of Thrones" Season 7 is almost near and here are the essentials of what fans should know about the show before it airs.

Based on Mashable's report, its release date was pushed back because they needed to maximize the winter season for filming some of its crucial scenes. The locations they are at are mainly in Ireland, Iceland, Crotia and Spain and these places sometimes take a while to get colder and have that extreme winter scenarios.

Season 7 will also be shorter because there will only be 7 episodes when it usually has 10. Executive producers of the show, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are aware exactly of how the story goes and how it will end based on the original and they don't want to stretch it any further if it would harm the show's quality.

Den of Geek interviewed Jacob Anderson, who is best known as Grey Worm on the show and he said that this new season is going to be chaotic. Now that the whole story is about to end, he just feels like everything that is happening is quite overwhelming.

Fans would be sad to know that "Game of Thrones" will only last up to season 8 and even that would also have shorter episodes, 6 to be exact. Stay tuned for more updates on season 7, especially when HBO finally announces its official premiere date.
