Apart from delivering heavy dramatic storylines per episode, "Grey's Anatomy" is also mostly known for its memorable and relatable characters. Over the course of its thirteen-year run on ABC, the medical drama has survived losing some of these fan-favorite characters due to creative decisions and sometimes inevitable conflicts that unfold behind the scenes.

As many fans would agree, "Grey's Anatomy" creator and showrunner Shonda Rhimes has been quite bold in killing off characters. Whenever there's a shooting or plane crash event that takes the life of a character, Rhimes sticks to her principle as someone who is not afraid to shake up the characters' lives to mirror what actually happens in reality. There also some cases, however, that characters just exit primarily due to the actor's decision to explore other things, either personally or professionally.

Fans will remember that this happened in the case of Sandra Oh, the actress who played the brilliant surgeon, Cristina Yang for a decade. Her departure from the series points to her decision to focus on other projects. And while Rhimes did not kill her off, her presence on the show was surely missed.

It has been three years since Oh departed the medical drama and fans have been dead curious if she'll ever make a comeback appearance in the future. Thankfully, a new development about this has emerged recently.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Oh was asked during an interview as to whether she'll consider appearing again in future episodes of "Grey's Anatomy." Unfortunately, the actress' words aren't exactly what fans are hoping to hear.

"At this point... No, I don't think so," Oh said.

"I just don't know. It would have to feel right."

It seems that Oh is not yet ready to revisit the story of Cristina Yang anytime soon. But as long as "Grey's Anatomy" is airing, anything can still happen. ABC recently renewed the medical drama for Season 14, so there's definitely still a chance that Yang may just surprise viewers down the line.

The renewal news was reported by Deadline.

"Grey's Anatomy" Season 13 airs every Thursday at 8PM on ABC.
