"Mystery Science Theater 3000" is finally going back to the small screen featuring familiar faces blending with new characters. After a successful Kickstarter campaign, the cult favorite series has also confirmed its release date on the media streaming giant.

MST3K Premiere Confirmed in Netflix

Kids from the 90s are in for big nostalgia flashback this April as Netflix confirmed the release date of the cult classic series "Mystery Science Theater 3000." According to Engadget, the series is set to return to the popular video streaming series this April 14 and it will feature some of the well-known characters in the series as well as some brand new faces.

Although the new characters are brand new faces, they are well known in the entertainment world especially those familiar with following cult classic shows and movies. According to Paste Magazine, the new mad scientists or "Mads" will be Felecia Day ("The Guild") and comedian Patton Oswalt while the new host of the show will be Jonah Ray.

The show will follow the same format of the classic cult TV series. Host Jonah Ray will get to comment hard on relatively unknown films with the same bots: Tom Servo, Crow T. Robot and Gypsy.

Films and Episodes Under Wraps

As of this writing, the premiere date announcement by Netflix is the only confirmed information. The movies featured in the film and number of episodes coming to the streaming service are still under wraps. It's also unknown if Netflix will release all episodes on April 14 or release a brand new episode every week.

But even with a relatively scarce information, the fact that it's coming soon is a welcome news to fans of the series. The revival of MST3K has been pushed for many years by its creator and it's return marks a new chapter in ripping bad movies from the past.
