"Lethal Weapon" is coming back. FOX has officially renewed the cop drama starring Clayne Crawford and Damon Wayans on Wednesday.

The series reimagines the hit movie franchise, as it follows classic cop duo Riggs and Murtaugh, who work a crime-ridden beat in modern-day Los Angeles. According to Deadline, the renewal comes as the show delivered a total multi-platform average audience of 11 million viewers for the network. It also currently ranks among the top five new series this season.

"Lethal Weapon continues to fire on all cylinders," said FOX Entertainment President David Madden in a statement.

"Every week, it delivers a big, fun rollercoaster ride, but also remains touchingly human and genuinely emotional, and that's due to the chemistry that's developed not only between Damon Wayans and Clayne Crawford, but the entire cast. We want to thank our producing partners, Warner Bros., as well as Matt Miller, McG, Dan Lin and Jennifer Gwartz, who have done a fantastic job in crafting a series for which a second-season order is well deserved."

The next episode of "Lethal Weapon" will find Murtaugh and Riggs going head-to-head with the Cartel. According to the episode synopsis, Riggs and Murtaugh team up again with DEA Agent Karen Palmer (guest star Hilarie Burton), and together they gain inside knowledge of dangerous new cartel operations. As Riggs' attachment to Palmer deepens, so do his impulsive actions, further worrying Captain Avery and Delgado (guest star Tony Plana). In the meantime, Trish explores the potential of an amazing new career opportunity.

The episode titled "A Problem Like Maria" is slated to air on Wednesday, March 8th.

In addition to "Lethal Weapon," the network also ordered another season of freshman series: "Star" and "The Mick." The trio joins other previously renewed shows including "Lucifer," "Empire," "Bob's Burgers," "American Grit," "The Simpsons," and "So You Think You Can Dance."
