Rainbow's Hyunyoung and Clazziquai's Alex have broken up after over a year of dating, sources confirm. The ex-lovebirds are said to have broken up due to their busy schedules.
Sports Donga (via Koreaboo) reported that Hyunyoung and Alex have called it quits after dating for 16 months. The decision was mutual and the former couple gradually drifted apart due to their busy schedules. Despite the split, the two remain good friends.
"After confirming with Hyunyoung herself, She has broken up with Alex and they will continue to have a good junior-senior relationship within the entertainment industry," Hyunyoung's agency, Mama Creative, said.
Hyunyoung and Alex first confirmed their relationship in October 2015. According to Daily Sports (via Soompi), Hyunyoung and Alex were introduced to one another through a mutual friend, and from then on developed romantic feelings towards each other. During their time together, Hyunyoung would often accompany Alex to concerts and events. They were very comfortable with each other and were not shy about making their relationship known among their friends despite their 12-year age gap
At the time that the Hyunyoung and Alex dating news came, they were already dating for four months. It was said that Alex was the first to express his interest in Hyunyoung, and the latter liked him back quickly. "They did not try to hide it at all. Alex even introduced her as his girlfriend at one of the dinners," a source said.
Meanwhile, Hyunyoung is pursuing a career in acting following Rainbow's disbandment in 2016. She was previously seen in dramas "Boarding House 24th Street" and "Rude Miss Young-Ae" Season 14.
