The buzz-about "American Crime Story" has been renewed for two more seasons and executive producer Ryan Murphy has already planned out the storylines for both. "American Crime Story" Season 2 will tell the story of the Hurricane Katrina aftermath in New Orleans.

The "American Crime Story" Season 2 plot will focus on a group of six to eight people and their examination of the Hurricane Katrina tragedy and its aftermath.   The story will be told in the vantage point of people who were present during the events in the Superdome, New Orleans' hospitals and those were transported for evacuation. The characters, however, will not be based on real-life personalities.

"I want this show to be a socially conscious, socially aware examination of different types of crime around the world," Murphy told The Hollywood Reporter. "And in my opinion, Katrina was a f-ing crime - a crime against a lot of people who didn't have a strong voice and we're going to treat it as a crime. That's what this show is all about."

According to Murphy "American Crime Story" Season 2 might have around 13 to 15 episodes, each of which will have its own theme. It will tell the story of Hurricane Katrina "from before the storm hits to its aftermath."

Annette Bening is the first star confirmed to join the "American Crime Story" Season 2 cast. She will portray Louisiana Kathleen Blanco, a one-term governor who served from 2004 to 2008, Vulture reported. Blanco oversaw the immediate response to Hurricane Katrina as well as the evacuation of people affected. She also cooperated in rebuilding the southern coastlines in the years that followed Katrina.

The "American Crime Story" Season 2 release date won't be until 2018. The show has anticipated production delays due to issues arising from filming in hurricane-prone areas.
