Fox surprised fans of "Firefly" during the Television Critics Association (TCA) conference earlier this year by saying they are open to rebooting the show. However, this doesn't come without a catch.

According to SyFy Wire, the president of Fox Broadcasting Entertainment Division, David Madden told the press in the recent TCA conference that he is open for a "Firefly" reboot. The only condition that this is happening is if the original creator, Joss Whedon would agree to work on it again.

The network gained success from remaking some of their known TV shows from way back like "The X-Files," "24," and even "Prison Break." This is why there is a possibility that rebooting "Firefly" might also be successful. However, Madden doesn't want to continue with it if Whedon won't be on board.

The problem is according to The Verge is that Whedon could be busy working on movies these days. Madden also assumed that Whedon has a lot on his plate that he won't be able to take the job again.

Unfortunately, Madden would not reboot the show if Whedon is not going to be a part of it at all. Fans of the show were a bit disappointed since it would appear that there is no way Whedon would be available because of his workload from other projects.

"Firefly" was not exactly a success when it premiered in 2002. It only lasted one season because it didn't get enough viewers to boost up its ratings. There were some really witty lines and humor in the show, which is why it still has some followers.
It is a show that has a lot of potentials if only it was given enough chance to stay on TV. As of the moment, "Firefly" fans could only hope for a miracle that Joss Whedon would take his time to work with it again.
