Big Hit Entertainment is living up to their promise to take legal actions against netizens who are spreading false reports about BTS. In fact, the agency recently released an update on the progress of the investigation.

The agency revealed their law firm has classified about 240,000 pieces of evidence from the internet, which can be used against the offenders of BTS. "We complied a list of various offenders who can be punished under the current law on defamation," Big Hit Entertainment said as per Allkpop.

After gathering all the necessary evidence needed, the agency plans to request for an official police investigation against netizens who falsified the image of BTS and their agency.

"We will also take every legal action possible based on the police investigation, and make sure they are punished without any settlements," the agency added.

Before ending their statement, Big Hit Entertainment emphasized their stance against malicious reports and criticisms from netizens. Apparently, the label's stand to protect their reputation and BTS received mixed response from the online community.

Netizens thought the entire legal process is a "waste of time." Some of them insisted rumors and haters are just part of being popular; hence, there is no need to sue everyone who is talking ill against a certain celebrity.

On the other hand, ARMYs commended Big Hit Entertainment for taking a strong stand against netizens who are attacking BTS. "This will hopefully let all Korean celebrities to stop apologizing for expressing themselves in any kind of way and form," a fan wrote.

Big Hit Entertainment first announced their decision to take legal actions against the offenders of BTS in November. According to Soompi, the label said members of the boy group have been greatly affected by malicious reports and personal attacks by some netizens.

The agency added they tried to accept all the criticisms; however, netizens may have gone over the top, forcing Big Hit Entertainment and BTS to file lawsuit against them for defamation.
