Former 2NE1 member Minzy was confirmed to join "Sisters' Slam Dunk" Season 2 together with six other cast members.
On Jan. 17, a representative of "Sisters' Slam Dunk" Season 2 revealed that Minzy is among the seven girls confirmed to appear on the show, Soompi reported. The cast includes Kim Sook and Hong Jin Kyung as returning members, while Minzy, Kang Ye Won, Hang Chae Young, Hong Jin Young and Jeon Somi are the new cast members.
The first season of "Sisters' Slam Dunk" earned a lot of attention after Min Hyo Rin created the "Girl Group Project," which introduced Unnies. The episode that focused on Min Hyo Rin's dream became the highest-rating episodes of the first season. This season, Unnies will be the central project of the show.
"Season one featured the girl group project as just one of the dreams, but for season two, the members will be taking on individual dreams as they prepare to take the stage," the show's production team said.
Minzy was one of the surprise additions to the show. The singer wasn't a mainstay in a lot of reality shows, and "Sisters' Slam Dunk" is one of her firsts. According to Koreaboo, Minzy explained her reason for joining the show through an Instagram post.
"I decided to join the show because of the [girls] on the show. They're so fun and special and it's an honor to be in a variety show with them," Minzy explained. "I also feel a certain level of synergy with the cast members as a whole. I feel like I've met my emotional cheerleaders."
"Sisters' Slam Dunk" Season 2 is Minzy's first project since leaving 2NE1 last year. She's also reportedly preparing for her first solo album, with a target date of release sometime this year.
"Sisters' Slam Dunk" Season 2 will premiere on Feb. 10, 2017.
