LG G6 is set for a major update as the makers have confirmed that a compact version is on its way with a significant departure from the G5 models. The LG G6 is going to be a pretty high end device however LG has also hinted at the possibility of working on various lower end versions as well.
The news about the possibility of a compact version started doing the rounds after news about LG trademarking names was confirmed. LG has trademarked various names but that does not mean that they are planning to come out with multiple models.
Traditionally, LG is known to block a few names and then narrow down their options. As of now, the names blocked include G6 Compact, G6 Lite, G6 Hybrid, G6 Prix, G6 Forte, G6 Fit, G6 Young, and G6 Sense.
In the past, LG has introduced variants to its various other flagship models, these include LG G5 SE, LG G3 s (essentially a mini G3), or the LG G Pro Lite.
The LG G6 model will feature a water resistant handset for better durability. Also, the new device will be powered by a Snapdragon 821 processor and a 5.7-inch, 1440 x 2880 pixels display, Phone Arena reported. As for the compact version, the device will have the same screen size but it will not display the same resolution.

Even the processor may have lesser capabilities. Unlike Sony, LG is known to cut down on features when it comes to creating compact versions. This time too, the brand is likely to follow this trend.
From the looks of it, there is a possibility that LG will come out with more than just a compact phone. Given the fact that LG has registered so many names, they may choose to offer other products as well in this category. Phandroid reported that there is a chance LG may choose to come out with a fitness band too under the same category.
