Best known for his record-breaking hit song "Gangnam Style," South Korean rapper Park Jae-sang, 38, who is professionally known as Psy, is set to perform in China for the upcoming lunar New Year. Among his fellow performers is South Korean actor and singer Jung Ji-hoon, 33, who is professionally known as Rain.

Psy and Rain, who is set to star in the upcoming South Korean drama series "Please Come Back, Mister," will perform at the lunar New Year's gala on Shanghai-based Dragon TV on the 2016 Chinese lunar New Year's Day, which is on Feb. 8, Monday. For four and a half hours, the gala will also feature traditional Chinese theater, acrobatics and comedic sketches, Shanghai Daily has learned.

Joining Psy and Rain at the 2016 Chinese lunar New Year's Day gala on Dragon TV is the Japanese dance group World Order. Danish rock band Michael Learns To Rock will be performing, as well.

Days before the 2016 Chinese lunar New Year's Day, Psy was honored in South Korea by a private organization that works to improve the global image of his home country. On Feb. 2, Tuesday, the Corea Image Communication Institute gave the "Gangnam Style" rapper an award for his contribution to the promotion of the country, The Chosun Ilbo reported.

Among the previous recipients of the prestigious award was United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. In 2012, Ban expressed his desire to work with Psy because of the South Korean rapper's unlimited global reach.

Meanwhile, Psy will be featured in "From Vegas to Macau 3." Like Jacky Cheung and Jacky Leung, the South Korean rapper has a special appearance in the upcoming Hong Kong-Chinese action comedy film, which stars Chow Yun-Fat, Andy Lau, Nick Cheung and Li Yuchun.

On Dec. 1, 2015, Psy released his seventh studio album titled "Chiljip Psy-da." The album has nine tracks including collaboration songs with Zion.T, Jeon In-kwon of Deulgookhwa's, XIA of JYJ, Kim Yoon-sung a.k.a. Gaeko of Dynamic Duo, CL of 2NE1 and will.i.am of The Black Eyed Peas and a remix of Ed Sheeran's "Sing."
