Pixels vs. Nexus UI, the debate has been going on for a long time, considering both have a good number of features and are products of Google. Ever since Google has launched Pixel in line with Apple's iPhone, there has been a lot of uncertainty about the fate of the Nexus User Interface.
Nexus UI is Google's version of Android and is extremely popular amongst users. Also referred to as stock android, this version is preferred for its lack of bloat. Soon after Pixel was announced, Google came forth to clarify the fate of Nexus UI saying Nougat would roll out the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P soon.
However, the Nexus devices will not have all the features of Pixel. In fact, the Nexus models will be without the Pixel Launcher as well.
The launch of Pixel cast a shadow of doubt on the future of Google's adaptation of Android in Nexus. However, it turns out that apart from the Pixel Launcher, there is no major difference that the users will notice.

It looks like Google is keen to shift to the mainstream phones segment with its latest offering manufacturing Pixels in big numbers from the start. Google may have been keen to shift focus after the unexpected turn of events that followed the launch of Nexus 6.
Meanwhile, a related report on Gigjets points out that Google had very low expectations from Nexus 6. The device was originally supposed to be introduced as Moto S after Google acquired Motorola. However, Nexus 6 ended up as a huge hit forcing Google to manufacture more devices and meet the demand of the users.
