"Infinite Challenge" is a show on MBC Network that has been airing for almost 10 years already. It consistently aired every Saturday without a break so it is no wonder that fatigue may have caught up with the production team and the cast members.
For the first time in a decade, the program's producer made a request from MBC and it is to give them a short break, seven weeks to be exact. Apparently, they got a positive reply from the higher-ups so starting Jan. 28, "Infinite Challenge" will not air as usual.
Moreover, Korea Times reported that another reason why the production team made the decision to take a breather was that, they already run out of ideas for the episodes. However, the accumulated fatigue from 10 years of continuous work weigh more than any other reason.
Kim Tae Ho, "Infinite Challenge" director and producer wrote a message on his social media account. He said that if Santa Claus can give gifts to the production staff who always go home very late and tired out after every filming, then they wish for 1-month break which they will use to come up with ideas and prepare for the show's next two month's episodes when they return.
The short hiatus of "Infinite Challenge" drew attention and people started to debate about adopting a seasonal production format for variety shows. Some say that on the business side, the move to pull out the show for several weeks is tricky because it prompts TV networks to give up profits from commercials sales.
Meanwhile, according to Allkpop, the reconfiguration process of "Infinite Challenge" will start on Jan. 28 and the show will return in March. It was added that the vacated time slot is going to be filled in by a special variety show that will feature Kwon Sang Woo and Jung Jun Ha. Some memorable episodes of IC will also be shown at some point.
