Gong Yoo starrer "Goblin" finally wrapped up with a remarkable ending episode on Saturday. In fact, the drama series now holds the spot as the highest rated tvN drama with 20.5 percent in average, surpassing "Reply 1988's" 18.8 percent.

The recently ended drama follows the life of Kim Shin, an immortal goblin played by Gong Yoo. The actor, in a message, admitted it was not easy for him to be casted for the drama.

"My character this time was a little different from my past characters, because he was not human but a god-like character, I felt burdened inside, and there was also the burden of working with such a well-known scriptwriter," he said as per Allkpop.

"Goblin" is written by Kim Eun Sook, who is popular for her works on "Descendants of the Sun," "Secret Garden" and "Lovers in Paris." It was previously revealed by the scriptwriter that Gong Yoo has rejected her offers before he said yes to "Goblin."

Despite the pressure in playing the lead role, Gong Yoo said they were able to achieve success because of the supporters. The actor said fans served as their motivation while working on "Goblin."

The "Train to Busan" actor made a special mention to the people behind "Goblin" and thanked them for working hard to make the drama a success. "I do not think that the Kim Shin of today and the "Goblin" of today would exist if it weren't for the countless staff members," he added.

Gong Yoo also expressed his gratitude to his co-actors, feeling sorry for not thanking them on a regular basis. Meanwhile, "Goblin" staff and crew reportedly planned to take a vacation to celebrate the drama's success, Soompi cited.

Reports stated the production will fly to Phuket, Thailand on Feb. 6. Actors are even adjusting their schedules to take part in the celebratory vacation.
