The annual Mobile World Congress hosts some of the world's largest communications companies, with many unveiling their latest phones and wearables gadgets.

Nokia was once one of the leaders in the mobile industry until it was left behind by its competitors after the birth of the smartphones. Now, recent reports claim that the multinational communications and information technology company is making a comeback this year with its rumored announcement of the Nokia P1 at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017.

According to Phone Arena, the Nokia P1 smartphone might be announced at the MWC event next month at Barcelona. The report cited a Russian publication that the rumored Nokia handset could possibly be based on the Sharp Aquos Xx3, which is a smartphone that was made available last year in Japan.

Although it might be based on the said phone, the same publication noted that the Nokia P1 will have some major improvements compared to Sharp Aquos Xx3. It was said that the rumored smartphone will run on a Snapdragon 835 processor, and may have a 6GB of RAM with a whopping 256GB internal storage capacity.

It was also revealed that the Nokia P1 could have a 22.6 MP rear camera. In regards to the size and the display, the same publication cited that the speculated phone might have a 5.3-inch display with Gorilla Glass 5. It is said to be water and dust resistant, and is going to have a 3500mAh battery with fast charging capability.

On the other note, Gadgets 360 cited the possible price of the said handset. It was noted that Nokia P1 smartphone may be priced at about $800 for the 128GB version, and $950 for the 256GB variant.

Despite of all the information given, the report said that this should be taken with a grain of salt as Nokia has not yet confirmed any details of the phone. Nonetheless, sources say that although no confirmation has been released, gadget enthusiasts are hoping and excited to see the Nokia P1 smartphone at MWC next month.
