TV personality Kim Jong Min candidly shared how he felt while taking a break from "1 Night 2 Days" to serve the mandatory military service.
During a guest appearance on "Talking Street" on Wednesday, Kim Jong Min revealed it was difficult for him to leave the show shortly after he joined the lineup of "1 Night 2 Days," Allkpop cited.
"I went into a really bad slump after I was discharged from the military. I received the notice of my leave from "1 Night 2 Days" after the end of season 2. Cha Tae Hyun suggested that the original members should stay at least," Kim Jong Min said.
He went on, "I thought maybe I could get a better opportunity later, and there was a big opportunity."
After being on "1 Night 2 Days" for over nine years, Kim Jong Min finally won the Grand Award at the 2016 KBS Entertainment Awards in December, Soompi noted. On top of that, the show was also voted by the viewers for the Best Program award.
On the other hand, the KBS show produced a "Kim Jong Min special" to celebrate his loyalty on the show. The TV personality was even set up on a blind date with interpreter Kim So Yeon.
A PD of "1 Night 2 Days" said they really searched for someone who would the ideal type of Kim Jong Min; hence, they have chosen someone who is intelligent and someone who communicates well.
Meanwhile, reports suggested the past nine years with "1 Night 2 Days" was not a walk in the park for Kim Jong Min. Previous claims said the TV personality even thought of leaving the show because of anti-fans.
He even admitted he had difficulty in copping up after returning to the show from the military. As a result, disappointed fans created a petition to kick Kim Jong Min out of "1 Night 2 Days."
