Qualcomm clarifies that phone displayed at CES was not a Nokia handset

Qualcomm made an official announcement to clarify that phone displayed at the CES 2017 to introduce its Snapdragon 835 processor was not a Nokia Android phone.

The clarification was made by Public Relation division of Qualcomm in an email sent to Nokia Mob. In the email message which was sent by Qualcomm Senior Vice President of Global Marketing, PR and Communications Catherine Baker. The email said that the demo for Qualcomm new chipset, Snapdragon 835 on Friday, Jan. 6 was not the Nokia smartphone.

“We've seen a few stories rumoring what we demonstrated in our CES booth to be a Nokia device, those reports are not accurate,” Baker said in her email. “Our 835 demos were on our own reference design devices which we use to demo our Snapdragon SOC's every year."

Qualcomm CEO Steve Mollenkopf introduced its new mobile processor Snapdragon 835 on Jan.6, 2017 at the Venetian Las Vegas during the CES 2017 in his keynote address. In the press release, the company said that the new processor is the newest premium-tier processor with X16 LTE. This new processor is the first mobile platform to be commercially manufactured using the 10nm FinFET process node. The smaller size FinFET transistor will allow device to use less battery usage and improved performance.

The major components for the Snapdragon 835 are its integrated X16 LTE modem for Gigabit Class LTE connectivity, which is prepared for the new 5G network. It also has an improved graphics performance with the new Adreno 540 GPU that has a significant enhancement in visual processing subsystem.

Paired with Qualcomm own Spectra™ 180 image sensor processor (ISP), the new graphics processing will enhance the camera capabilities for smartphones, VR/AR head-mounted displays and IP cameras. This will significantly improve the quality of graphics.
