Wentworth Miller has "The Flash" to thank for making "Prison Break" Season 5 happen. The actor recently revealed how The CW series helped with the revival during Wednesday's Television Critics Association press tour.
Miller said that his tandem with Dominic Purcell in "The Flash" led to the revival. Had they not acted out together in the superhero series, then "Prison Break" Season 5 would not have happened.
Miller owed the revival to "The Flash" since it led to his reunion with his "Prison Break" co-star. He said that it was on the set that they started reminiscing about the crime show. It was also when they came up with the idea to make "Prison Break" Season 5 happen.
"Suddenly we were back on set, discussing old times. And out of that conversation came the possibility of revisiting 'Prison Break,'" Variety quoted Miller as saying.
Of course, the thought of bringing back the show would not have happed if not for the fans. Turns out, "Prison Break" still has its following even after it ended in 2009. Showrunner and Executive Producer Paul T. Scheuring revealed that they met some fans after he discussed the revival with Miller at a North Hollywood Café.
Schering said several men jumped out of a car when they saw Miller exit the café. He said they recognized the actor from "Prison Break" and took photos with him. Schering realized that people still have that hunger to see the show back on air.
Suffice to say, had it not for the fans and for their appearance together in "The Flash," then Miller and Purcell would not be doing "Prison Break" Season 5. In the DC comic book series, Miller plays Leonard Snart aka Captain Cold opposite Purcell's Mick Rory aka Heatwave. The actors also play the same characters in "Legends of Tomorrow."
Meanwhile, in "Prison Break" Season 5, Miller and Purcell reprise the brothers Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows, respectively. According to Digital Spy, the instalment takes off after Season 4 left Scofield dead and buried. Apparently, he is very much alive and back in jail, when the show returns to Fox on April 4, 2017.
