Bad news for gaming enthusiasts, as director Tetsuya Nomura revealed that a "Final Fantasy VII" Remake for Playstation 4 as well as a "Kingdom Hearts" 3 for PS4 and Xbox One aren't right around the corner just yet. While there have been progress in both games, Nomura admitted that it's development that cannot be shown off at the moment--although if fans are willing to wait, there are a few surprises coming their way via new titles.

Managing expectations

The news comes at an unfortunate time for most video gamers, who have been looking forward to a "Final Fantasy VII" Remake ever since the highly acclaimed release of "Final Fantasy XV." The news about "Kingdom Hearts 3," however, was more surprising. Square Enix had earlier promised that they would be releasing information about the game as soon as they get "Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue" out of the way.

To manage expectations about these titles, Tetsuya Nomura admitted that their progress on the "Final Fantasy VII" remake as well as for "Kingdom Hearts 3" was negligible. The studio was still a long ways to go before completing the project, but they are merely ensuring that the games match what fans want to see in the next installments of the two franchises, US Gamers reported.

He further elaborated that he cannot give an overall estimate on the games' development because their progress is different from previous projects. However, he promised that the studio would be showcasing progress for these two games in different events.

Surprises lined up for fans

Luckily, there are a few surprises lined up to sate fans' thirst for new titles, Dual Shocker reported. It's unclear whether this means that there are going to be new titles up for release this year, but he was able to give more information on other highly anticipated titles. This includes "Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue," which will release exclusively for PS4 on Jan. 24.
