There was a time where fighting games used to have predominantly male characters, but now we have "Street Fighters," "Darkstalkers," "Tekken" and even "Dead or Alive" having a growing number of femme fatales kicking butts side by side with their male counterparts. Now, another fighting game will be released from Steam's Greenlight that will feature an all-female cast and it's called "Fatal Fighter."

Siliconera reports that "Fatal Fighter" seems to be getting its inspiration from classic fighting games like "King of Fighters" and "Dead or Alive". The upcoming fighting game appears to implementing the style from "King of Fighters" in terms of character design in addition to the two-dimensional fighting mechanic. As for the inspirations from "Dead or Alive," it's no doubt that "Fatal Fighter" may have borrowed that sex-appeal with the selection of the main female fighters it features.

The roster shows a number of colorful characters that boast of possessing a number of unique skills and abilities, alongside their unique designs. While there haven't been any more details on the game yet, it is possible that the final game will have more features once it releases including customizations that would allow characters to have different costumes and such.

An all-female cast hasn't been unheard of in the fighting game genre, according to GiantBomb. So far, the only recent ones that have that feature include "Skullgirls," "Rumble Roses" and "Arcana Hearts." Most of them seem to come from Japan, but "Skullgirls" has more western roots. "Fatal Fighter," on the other hand, is a Chinese game.

We still don't know what "Fatal Fighters" might be bringing to the fighting game genre, but it does offer network battles and spectator mode. So far, there have been mixed receptions from gamers (especially in Steam) about the game, but we have to wait and see once it releases. There hasn't been any exact official release dates yet but it's said to come out soon this year.
