The nostalgia for good, old school games continues as SEGA is looking into their library of games for possible re-release or remake. The latest rumored game that could make an appearance in HD is the popular action-adventure game Shenmue.

Domain Name Registration Link

The rumor mill of an upcoming game from SEGA is a blast from the past which could be exciting news for retro-gamers. According to IGN, SEGA Europe recently registered three domain names - all related to Shenmue. The registered names all point to a remaster of its game with HD release: Shenmuehd.com, ShenmueRemastered.com and Shemnuegame.com.

Unfortunately, the reported registration was last year and SEGA did not make any announcements of a possible release of a remake. But their registration could just be one of the many steps they are making to push for a release of the classic game.

Success of Shenmue III on PS4

The announcement of a possible remake for HD of Shenmue could still hinge on the success of Shenmue III on PS4. Although independently developed from SEGA, it found success through Kickstarter according to PSU as it already gained license from its original developer.

If the buzz about the upcoming game is big enough, SEGA will most likely release the games. The gaming company has expressed interested in these games as far back as 2012 and they are possibly waiting for a demand to offer the titles.

A remastered HD release of Shenmue and Shenmue II could mean an exciting game not only for retro-gamers but also for current console and PC players. Originally played in Dreamcast, it is an action-role playing game known for its detailed graphics and open-world gameplay unseen on its release. The game looks amazing on Dreamcast on its release and an HD remake could mean improved rendering of characters and gameplay.
