Following the official season 4 premiere of "Sherlock," Benedict Cumberbatch is making another buzz in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.A report has now confirmed that the actor will reprise his role as Doctor Strange in the upcoming "Thor: Ragnarok" movie.

According to Coming Soon, a synopsis for "Thor: Ragnarok" has been revealed via Disney's official fan club, D23. The news brings an official confirmation that Cumberbatch's Sorcerer Supreme is set to play a bigger role on the Marvel film franchise. The description for the Taika Waititi film reads:

"Thor: Ragnarok in November brings together Thor, the Hulk, and Doctor Strange to face off against intergalactic baddies both familiar and new."

In the past months, there were a few developments that have emerged about "Thor Ragnarok." One of the highlights include the plot element revealed by Waititi last month, where he said that the film will explore the world of Sakaar from the Marvel comics' Planet Hulk storyline.

"Sakaar was just an insane, far-off, futuristic place which was the biggest shift for the film and these characters," the director said.

"I was really excited when Kevin [Feige] and the rest of Marvel jumped on board with the idea to use [Jack] Kirby as a big influence in the design of the film. What's really hard is staying authentic."

A behind the scenes photo of Sir Anthony Hopkins as Odin was also made available online. However, the image taken during filming in Australia sees the character in a pretty bad shape. Hopkins, on the other hand, seems like he's having a great time.

"Thor: Ragnarok" is the third standalone film featuring the God of Thunder. The first "Thor" was released in 2011 and had a follow up in 2013 with "Thor: The Dark World."

In addition to Cumberbatch, "Thor Ragnarok" will also feature Jeff Goldblaum as the Grandmaster, Cate Blanchett as the antagonist Hela, Kela Urban as another villain Skurge and Tessa Thompson as the heroic Valkyrie. They join original players Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Mark Ruffalo, Idris Elba and Anthony Hopkins.

"Thor: Ragnarok" will open in theaters on Nov. 3, 2017.
