‘The Legend of the Blue Sea’ nabs top spot in brand reputation among dramas for the month of December

SBS' "The Legend of the Blue Sea" placed first on the drama brand reputation index for the month of December. The ongoing SBS drama stars Hallyu actors Lee Min Ho and Jun Ji Hyun.

From Oct. 16 to Dec. 17, the Korean Business Research Institute studied the data gathered for 20 dramas in the areas of media, communication, community, and brand. Out of the 20 dramas, the SBS drama tops the list as it captures viewers through a series of heartwarming episodes from Jun and Lee, Naver TV revealed as cited by Soompi.

Meanwhile, fanart parodies and .gifs images of the drama's upcoming episode recently circulated online. Said images were made by the fans of the ongoing romantic fantasy drama.

Starring Hallyu actors Jun and Lee, "The Legend of the Blue Sea" tells the story of the love story of the last mermaid on earth and the charming con-artist. After airing its first episode, the drama continues to build its popularity.

Upon airing its 13th episode on Dec. 28, the drama garnered a 17.2 percent viewership rating across Seoul and a 16 percent viewership nationwide, as per AGB Nielsen. On SBS' official Facebook page, a clip from Episode 13 garnered a 2,460,000 views as of Jan. 1 at 2 p.m KST.

A source from the drama then revealed, "The actors and staff gain strength from the fans' endless love and are working hard at filming. We will do our utmost until the end to make the best production, please continue to support us."

"The Legend of the Blue Sea" started airing its first episode last Nov. 16 at 10 p.m KST every Wednesdays and Thursdays. A special movie-like episode was aired last Dec. 29 which portray a never-before-seen story of Shim Chung (Jun) and Heo Joon Jae (Lee). The drama is expected to wrap up after airing 20 episodes.
