There has been a rough day for "Star Wars" fans with the passing of actress Carrie Fisher. The only consolation there is in the fact that the actress will continue to live in movie screens in the upcoming "Star Wars: Episode VIII."

The actress who plays the iconic character of Leia Organa has reportedly finished all of her scenes in the upcoming film before she died. According to reports, the actress will reportedly have a bigger role to play in "Star Wars: Episode VIII" than she did in "Episode VII," Deadline reported.

Unfortunately, after "Episode VIII," the future of the "Star Wars" franchise might undergo some changes because the actress will no longer be available for "Star Wars: Episode IX." The last installment of the latest "Star Wars" trilogy will reportedly start filming in the spring which should be enough time to reshape the second installment.

Details as to how Fisher's death will affect the upcoming films moving forward have yet to be discussed and specific details will likely not be revealed until the right time of release. Reports say that Disney and Lucasfilm have already scheduled reshoots at some point next year. It is very plausible that these reshoots will be done to give a fitting conclusion to Princess Leia's arc in the upcoming film, Screen Rant reported.

Fisher, has carved out her place in cinema with her portrayal of Princess Leia who evolved from being a princess in the Rebellion to becoming a general of the Resistance. The actress died four days after suffering a massive heart attack last week aboard a Los Angeles-bound flight 15 minutes prior to landing.

"Star Wars" creator George Lucas mourned the abrupt passing of the actress in a statement and said, "She was extremely smart; a talented actress, writer and comedienne with a very colorful personality that everyone loved. In Star Wars, she was our great and powerful princess - feisty, wise and full of hope in a role that was more difficult than most people might think. My heart and prayers are with Billie, Debbie and all Carrie's family, friends and fans. She will be missed by all."
