"The Walking Dead" creator Robert Kirkman has discussed some of his plans for the future of the franchise. Actors Corey Hawkins and Christine Evangelista opens up about the possible return of their characters.

In an interview, Kirkman said there is a plan for the series to adapt Issue 200 from the comic books by Season 12.

Despite trailing behind the show at exactly 50 issues behind the comic books at #111 mark,   Kirkman is not worried about "The Walking Dead" taking over the comic book series at any point.

"It took us 6 seasons to get to [issue] 100, it won't take us 6 years to get to 200 and that will take us to season ... TWELVE. And we'll still be ahead of the show at that point," he said, Comic Book reported.

Despite recent criticism and loss of viewership, "The Walking Dead" franchise is still standing strong with plenty of material to utilize in the future. The series has already been renewed for its eight Season and it is likely that it will endure more, Screen Rant reported.

On a bad week, the show still manages to lure about 10 million viewers. Comparing this to its sister show "Fear the Walking Dead" with an average of four million viewers per week and has been renewed for season 3, it is safe to say that "The Walking Dead" has garnered a healthy number of followers and will likely stay a little bit longer.

Elsewhere, there are reports that the series may bring back Heath and Sherry may return. Alexandrian Heath (Hawkins) has disappeared from the bridge of sand walkers while Sherry (Evangelista) was last seen drowning herself in whiskey.

In an interview, Corey played coy about his future in the series saying, ""Listen, [TWD showrunner] Scott Gimple is a genius and master in how he's been able to continue to craft the show. We've been in conversations about it," Yahoo TV reported.

As for Sherry, the actress said that "Where you left off with her, she was in the world of the Sanctuary, under Negan's thumb, and trying to do right by Daryl," she said then added, "She's trying to redeem herself, so when or how she does that, I think that'll be interesting to see."
