Rob Brydon, Kelly Macdonald, Rebecca Hall join Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly in Sony’s comedy ‘Holmes and Watson’

"The Huntsman: Winter's War" actor Rob Brydon, "Special Correspondents" actress Kelly Macdonald, and "The BFG" actress Rebecca Hall join the cast of Sony Pictures' comedy "Holmes and Watson." They star with "Daddy's Home" actor Will Ferrell and "Sing" actor John C. Reilly.

According to Variety, Brydon will play the head of Scotland Yard, Inspector Lestrade, in "Holmes and Watson." Macdonald will play housekeeper Mrs. Hudson of Holmes & Watson's famous home at 221B Baker Street. Hall will play Dr. Grace Hart, the first female doctor to practice in London.

"Holmes and Watson" is about the sleuthing duo, Deadline reported. It reunites the stars of "Talladega Nights" and "Step Brothers." Ferrell plays Holmes, and Reilly as Watson.

"Holmes and Watson" will be produced by Mosaic and Gary Sanchez Productions with Jimmy Miller producing on Mosaic's behalf and Adam McKay producing on behalf of Gary Sanchez. It will be directed and written by Etan Cohen. Jonathan Kadin is overseeing for Columbia; Chris Henchy and Jessica Elbaum are overseeing for Gary Sanchez.

Brydon is last seen in 2015's "Cinderella" as Master Phineus. He will next appear in Michael Winterbottom's drama "The Trip to Spain." His past credits include "The Trip" opposite Steve Coogan and "The Huntsman: Winter's War" starring Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron.

Macdonald is best known for her work on "Boardwalk Empire" and was most recently seen in Netflix's comedy "Special Correspondents," written and directed by Ricky Gervais. She recently wrapped Simon Curtis' untitled film on A.A. Milne, opposite Dohmnall Gleeson and Margot Robbie for Fox Searchlight.

Macdonald is starring in the "Hated In The Nation" episode of Netflix's "Black Mirror" Season 2. She is repped by ICM Partners and Independent Talent Group in the U.K.

Hall is currently in the awards-season chatter for her daring work as the tragic local newswoman title character in the indie "Christine," drumming up best actress in Oscar. She is represented by WME and Julian Belfrage Associates.

The production of "Holmes and Watson" is set to start in the first quarter of next year.
