After the Nov. 22 episode of "Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim," the SBS drama is now considered one of the most popular K-dramas this season for having recorded a viewership of 20.3 percent.
According to Korea Times, the figures were released by Nielsen Korea after the sixth episode of "Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim" was broadcasted on Tuesday. Reports claimed a viewership rating of 20 percent is an accomplishment, given that a 10 percent viewership rating is already considered a success.
"Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim" stars Han Suk Kyu who plays the role of Kim Sa Bu or Teacher Kim. The veteran actor shares the small screen with Yoo Yeon Seok as Kang Dong Joo and Seo Hyun Jin who takes the role of Yoon Seo Jung.
Aside from the commendable professionalism of the actors, "Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim" has been praised for trying to make the drama close to reality. Soompi reported critics and viewers noticed how the SBS drama is being keen about the tiny details.
Reports suggested the SBS drama has hired a medical consultant to guide the actors while filming "Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim." Kang Jung Hee revealed the director has instructed them to show what is going on inside the operation room no matter how hard it may seem.
"It's difficult to perform real CPR in a drama, but from the very beginning of the drama, the director wanted to show a more detailed CPR scene," Kang said.
The medical consultant went on, "The actors received CPR training before filming. In real hospitals, doctors often use a stool or kneel by the patient when performing CPR, which can be difficult for actors to do, but they wanted to keep those realistic details."
Meanwhile, a production staff of "Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim" commended that actors for their performance in the SBS drama. The staff added the three lead actors were quick to understand medical terms.
