Rumors in the tech world initially indicates that the upcoming follow-up of LG V20 will ditch its unique secondary screen feature based on the tweets of the popular leaker. But the leaker immediately reacted to the rumors and clarifies his statement on the future of the secondary screens in LG V series.

Ditching the Secondary Screen

News on LG's decision to ditch the secondary screen on their V series started with the tweeter post by popular leaker Evan Blass (@evleaks). In his post he claims that he already has early versions of LG V30 with a follow-up comment that he's saying goodbye to the ticker feature for LG V30. The tweet created a firestorm of speculation that LG will eventually get rid of the secondary screen for its V series phones starting with V30.

But Blass clarified his stand the next day by stating that his statement on ticker was "mistranslated" as actually getting rid of the secondary display feature. By clarifying his statement, the secondary screen will most likely stay on the upcoming follow-up of the LG V20. The ticker is going away and should be replaced with something else.

Ticker Replacement

Now that the ticker is going to be scrapped, what will happen to the overall display in LG V30? According to Phone Radar, the ticker on the upper display of the phone could be scrapped but it might return in another form in the bottom of the device's lower display. Placing the ticker on the lower display could increase interaction in the upper display while the lower display ultimately becomes some sort of "control panel" for the mobile device.

But everything is still on its early prototype since the V30 is going to be revealed in the second half of 2017. In fact, the V20 is still rolling out in few markets worldwide with variety of features depending on the country. As the first device to feature Android 7.0 Nougat, the V20 is still one of the premium devices to sought after in the first half of 2017.

The early rumors of LG V30's secondary display was immediately scrapped by the original leaker. Rumors on early renders indicate that the upcoming device will still have the second screen without the V20's ticker feature.
