The 2016 American Music Awards featured and honored some of today's hottest artists at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles last Sunday.

Drake got the most nominations for the night, however, the Artist of the Year award went to Ariana Grande, Aol reported. The nominees for the biggest award of the night included Adele, Justin Bieber, Beyoncé, Selena Gomez, Drake, Twenty One Pilots, Rihanna, The Weeknd, and Carrie Underwood.

Some of the superstars that performed during the night included Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, and Bruno Mars, US Magazine reported. The hosts for the evening were comedian Jay Pharaoh and model Gigi Hadid.

Adele, Rihanna, and Selena Gomez battled it out for the Favorite Female Artist for Pop/Rock award. Ultimately, it was Selena who bagged the award. The Favorite Artis - Alternative Rock award goes to Twenty One Pilots, who won over Coldplay and X Ambassadors. Florida Georgia Line won the Favorite Duo or Group for Country award against Zac Brown Band and Old Dominion.

The Top Soundtrack award went to Purple Rain, over Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and Suicide Squad: The Album.

Drake won the Favorite Artist for Rap/Hip-Hop against Fetty Wap and Future. Meanwhile, Zayn Malik won the New Artist of the Year Un-Leashed By T-Mobile against Alessia Cara, DNCE< The Chainsmokers, and Shawn Mendes.

Tim McGraw's "Humble and Kind" won the Favorite Song for Country award. The Collaboration of the Year award goes to Fifth Harmony's "Work From Home," which features Ty Dolla $ign.  

The Chainsmokers won the Favorite Artis for Electronic Dance Music award. Drake's "Views" won the Favorite Album for Rap/Hip-Hop. The Favorite Duo or Group for Pop/Rock went to Twenty One Pilots. Beyoncé got the Tour of the Year.

Justin Bieber's "Sorry" won Video of the Year. He also won Favorite Male Artist for Pop/Rock. His "Purpose" got the Favorite Album for Pop/Rock. His "Love Yourself" won the Favorite Song for Pop/Rock award.

Favorite Male Artist for Country award went to Blake Shelton, Favorite Female Artist for Country award went to Carrie Underwood, and the Favorite Album for Country award went to Carrie Underwood's "Storyteller."

The Favorite Song for Rap/Hip-Hop award went to Drake's "Hotline Bling." The Favorite Male Artist for Soul/R&B went to Chris Brown. The Favorite Female Artist for Soul/R&B went to Rihanna. The Favorite Album for Soul/R&B award went to Rihanna's "Anti."

Rihanna's "Work" featuring Drake got the Favorite Song for Soul/R&B award. The Favorite Artist for Adult Contemporary award went to Adele. The Favorite Artist for Latin award went to Enrique Iglesias. The Favorite Artist for Contemporary Inspirational award went to Hillsong United.
