Aside from her roles as O-Ren Shii in the "Kill Bill" film franchise and Alex Munday in "Charlie's Angels," Chinese-American actress Lucy Liu, 43, is also known for several TV roles. Here are 10 of her best characters in a TV series:

10. Mei-Sun Leow in "ER"

In 1995, Liu played Mei-Sun Leow in "ER" Season 2.

9. Yuling Chong

In 1997, Liu played Yuling Chong of the pilot episode of "Dellaventura."

8. Alice Woo in "Michael Hayes"

Aired on Dec. 2, 1997, "Michael Hayes" Season 1 episode 8 featured Liu as Alice Woo.

7. Mia Mason in "Cashmere Mafia"

Mia Mason is a publisher at Barnstead Media Group. Liu played the role in 2008.

6. Grace Chin in "Ugly Betty"

Liu appeared as Grace Chin in two episodes of "Ugly Betty" in 2007.

5. Lauren Beck in "Joey"

"Joey" featured Liu as Lauren Beck in three episodes. The TV series Matt LeBlanc, who recently told Entertainment Weekly that his favourite "Friends" memory is that they could not get through a scene without laughing.

4. Nola Lyons in "Dirty Sexy Money"

From 2009 to 2009, Liu played Nola Lyons, one of the principal characters in "Dirty Sexy Money." Among Liu's co-stars in the ABC series were William Baldwin, Donald Sutherland, Peter Krause, Jill Clayburgh, Natalie Zea, Glenn Fitzgerald, Seth Gabel, Samaire Armstrong and Zoe McLellan, among others.

3. Officer Jessica Tang in "Southland"

In "Southland" Season 4 episode 10, Liu's character Officer Jessica Tang was declared a Supervisor. She was a former partner of John Cooper (Michael Cudlitz).

In 2013, Liu was nominated Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Jessica Tang in "Southland." She lost to "Grey's Anatomy" actress Loretta Devine.

2. Dr. Joan Watson in "Elementary"

Liu has been playing Dr. Joan Watson in "Elementary" on CBS opposite Jonny Lee Miller as Sherlock Holmes since 2012. They were nominated Favorite Duo by the TV Guide Awards in 2014 but lost to "Outlander" stars Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe, who recently told E! News that she and Heughan are not dating as rumors claimed.

1. Ling Woo in "Ally McBeal"

Aired on Fox from 1997 to 2002, "Ally McBeal" starred Liu as Ling Woo, a cold and ferocious Mandarin-speaking Chinese-American lawyer who is also a sexual pleasure expert.

In 1999, Liu won Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series from Online Film & Television Association for her role as Ling Woo in "Ally McBeal."
