The latest chapter of "Tokyo Ghoul:re" features the ultimate demise of a very powerful ghoul and the rise of another. The status of ghouls as well as the remaining CCG investigators is also revealed as another story arc of the popular supernatural/horror manga ends.
Chapter 98 of "Tokyo Ghoul:re" can be read online in Manga Stream. The chapter starts with Amon seemingly dying but actually recovering from Urie's attack with his kakuja. Amon was able to inflict injury to Urie and Hsiao but was again repelled through the help of Higemaru and Aura.
Urie was given enough time to recover and fight Amon one more time. However, he was once again defeated by Amon. But before Amon could land his death strike, Saiko intervened to deliver her kagune that could finally be the end of Amon.
On the other hand, Matsuri gave an update to everyone who has survived the recent skirmishes. He summarized the attacks on breakout in Cochlea and Arima's death - all the works of Haise Sasaki. He also noted that his father also died from the attack of a ghoul while Maruda escapes.
Matsuri made it his mission to find Maruda's body but was informed of another death. This time, Matsuri's grandfather Tsuneyoshi Washuu died in the hands of by Souta Furuta. As the illegitimate son, he declares himself the as the new king and the leader of the Clowns and V.
The forum posts on My Anime List discuss the end of another story arc of the manga series. In this story arc, two major characters are emerging: Haise Sasaki and Souta Furuta. Because of his heroic actions, Sasaki declared himself as the "One Eyed King" while Furuta has declared himself as "Washuu King" which practically pits them against each other.
The latest chapter ends the story arc where Amon finally meets his end at the hands of Saiko. However, a new name emerges as the leader of Washuu and he is set to become a very dangerous enemy of ghouls. Sasaki on the other hand, is set to return to unite the ghouls against a very powerful antagonist.
